During the placement, the students will be provided with the opportunity to see the responsibilities of the hospital pharmacy team enabling them to gain an overview of the work of the pharmacy team and their role in patient care. They will shadow both pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in the ward environment, observing medicines reconciliation on admission and discharge, patient counselling, and the provision of pharmaceutical care advice to other healthcare professionals. They will observe dispensing activities in the dispensary, including controlled drug dispensing and dispensing for discharge and will observe store-based activities.
