Students will observe an Orthoptic clinic running and patient examination. Patient examination will include visual acuity testing, binocular vision testing and diagnosing and management of various conditions. We see patients of all ages and abilities.
They will be allowed to test staff members with the equipment but will not be allowed to test patients.
Students will see how the patient journey starts and finishes and how a team works together to try and make the experience as easy as it can be for the patient and carer. Students will learn how Orthoptics fits within Ophthalmology and the eye care community as a whole.
Observe extended roles and how they impact on patient experience. We have extended roles in shared care glaucoma and also visual processing disorders.
