PLACEMENT INFORMATION: This placement is designed to allow the student to gain an understanding of the workings of a hospital pharmacy department. The student must be a current pre-registration pharmacist registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
PLACEMENT DETAILS: During the placement the student will observe the differences between the workings of a community pharmacy and a hospital pharmacy dispensary and they will also get the opportunity to observe pharmacists on the wards seeing inpatient care including medicines reconciliations, clinical checking of prescription charts and counselling of patients. They may also get to observe the interaction between the hospital pharmacy team and the other health care professionals in the ward environment. For the longer placements the student may get the opportunity to observe other specialist areas of pharmacist working such as aseptic production.View all work placements
