Occupational Therapy – Pilgrim Hospital, Boston

United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust - Pilgrim Hospital, Boston
Pathway Allied Health
Minimum Age 16+
Duration Up to 5 Days

Accident, illness, planned surgery and ageing can turn everyday activities into challenges which reduce independence and undermine our sense of identity. Occupational therapists recognise that being able to perform these daily activities is crucial to health and wellbeing, and aim therapy towards empowering people to be active participants in their own lives. They work with people who have difficulties carrying out these activities because of disability, illness, trauma, ageing, and a range of long term conditions.
Whilst on placement, individuals will have the opportunity to observe the Occupational Therapist completing assessments and Occupational Therapy interventions to enable the patient to achieve their own individual goals.
The student will spend time in several clinical areas including ward areas and outpatient clinics which may include General Medicine, stroke, Orthopaedics, pre-assessment, surgery, hand therapy and community rehabilitation............
