Insight to Quality Improvement and Transformation

Students will learn about the role of the Quality Improvement and Transformation department at Princess Alexandra Hospital. Students will also shadow a department within the hospital and will have the opportunity to engage in tasks related to each department. From this shadowing experience, students will then explore opportunities to make improvements within the placement areas. These will be presented at the end of the week, in poster format.

Placement delivery
Day 1 - Off-site (via MS Teams) - Students to complete a job application form and will be interviewed by Quality First for application and interviewing experience.

Day 2 - Off-site (via MS Teams) - Quality First to go through the scope and expectations for the week.

Princess Alexandra staff will share ‘work/life stories’ and will be available for questions and answers.

Day 3 & 4 - On-siteStudents to spend time with one of the following teams at the hospital

•Estates and facilities - Sustainability, Electrical and Biomedical Engineering (EBME), Engineering and maintenance, Help desk

Students will shadow staff within the team, undertake department-specific duties, and learn about the department in detail. The knowledge and experience gained from time across departments will inform the development of students’ improvement projects.

Day 5 - Off-site (via MS Teams) - Students present improvement projects to the quality first team, key stakeholders, and department placement managers.
