The aim of the Pharmacy Department is to ensure that medicines are used in the most clinical and cost-effective manner and to manage the risks associated with medicines handling.

PLACEMENT DETAILS:
During the 1-day placement, individuals will assist and observe various Pharmacy staff. Students will observe the process from initial receipt of pharmacy goods into store and the booking in process, through to the receipt of prescriptions, both hand-delivered and electronic, and how they are recorded, tracked and programmed through the department. The individual will learn about the receipt and disposal of surplus drugs/medicines, and there may be an opportunity to review how drugs/medicines are tracked on the wards.

In addition, the placement may include general and related administrative duties whilst shadowing various technicians and pharmacists in a busy and varied working environment.
