Whilst on placement individuals will have an overview of the therapy service in an acute hospital, and profession specific information on Occupational Therapy and the unique contribution to patient care.
Individuals will have the opportunity to observe how our patients are identified as needing Occupational Therapy, routine Occupational Therapy assessments and interventions to enable the patient to achieve their own individual goals for discharge. There will be some discussion on other services in the community who we refer to both to get equipment that is needed for discharge and the difference in Occupational Therapy approach after the patient is home.
Individuals will assist and observe Occupational Therapists and assistants in a range of tasks. Teams are in the specialities of orthopaedics (trauma or elective), general medicine and surgery, A&E and frailty and outpatient hand therapy.View all work placements
